Rulely Terms of Service

Effective Date: September 24, 2026

Terms Version: 1.0

1. WHO WE ARE

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Mahamane Sissoko, an individual developer registered in the United States of America ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"), who operates Rulely. They govern your use of the Rulely mobile applications for iOS and Android, the web dashboard at https://app.rulely.app, the website at https://rulely.app, and the paid subscription described in Section 4 ("Rulely Active"), together the "Service."

How we collect and use personal information is described in the Rulely Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. THE SERVICE

Rulely lets a parent or guardian ("Guardian") set rules for a child's device — which apps are limited, for how long, and when bedtime applies — and lets the child ask for more time. Rulely can also be used by one person on their own device ("self mode"). On iOS, the rules are applied by Apple's Screen Time technology; on Android, by the Rulely app.

Rulely is a tool that supports a family's own decisions. It is not a guarantee that a device can never be used outside the rules: operating-system limits, device restores, account changes, and a determined user can all affect enforcement, and the app tells the Guardian when it can detect that enforcement has stopped.

3. ACCOUNTS

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create a Guardian account.
  • A Guardian who pairs a child's device represents that they are that child's parent or legal guardian, or have that person's permission.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion is permanent and is described in the Privacy Policy.
  • 4. RULELY ACTIVE (THE SUBSCRIPTION)

    4.1 Free period

Setting up Rulely is free. Rulely runs without charge until it has done its job in your family (two nights on which a rule held, or seven days after setup, whichever comes first). The app then offers Rulely Active. If you decline, Rulely keeps working for at least three more days and tells you the date it will stop enforcing your rules.

    4.2 Price and billing

Rulely Active is one subscription per family, covering any number of children:

  • Monthly: US$9.99 per month
  • Yearly: US$79.99 per year
  • Prices are shown in the app and on the checkout page before you pay, together with any applicable tax. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. on our behalf. Rulely never receives or stores your card number.

    4.3 Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then in effect, and your payment method is charged until you cancel. We will tell you in advance of any price change, and it applies only from your next renewal after the notice.

    4.4 How to cancel

You can cancel at any time, online, from the Rulely app: open the menu, choose Rulely Active, then Manage, then Cancel subscription on the secure billing page that opens. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Rulely keeps enforcing your rules until then, and you will not be charged again.

    4.5 Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you a link to update your payment method. Rulely stays active for 7 days after the failed renewal, and the app notifies you before enforcement stops. If payment is not completed within that time, Rulely stops enforcing your rules at the next daily reset (never in the middle of an evening). Your rules, settings, and pairing are kept, and enforcement resumes as soon as you pay.

    4.6 Refunds

Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and partial billing periods are not refunded. If we issue a full refund, or a payment is disputed with your card issuer, the subscription is cancelled and Rulely stops enforcing your rules at the next daily reset.

4.7 Deleting your account cancels your subscription

If you delete your Rulely account, we cancel your subscription immediately, so you are never charged for an account that no longer exists. As with any other cancellation (Section 4.4), the unused part of the current billing period is not refunded.

4.8 Where the subscription is offered

Rulely Active can currently be purchased only by families using the United States App Store. Families elsewhere are not charged, and Rulely does not stop enforcing their rules for lack of a subscription.

4.9 What happens when Rulely Active ends

When Rulely Active ends, Rulely stops enforcing your rules on your family's devices at the next daily reset. Nothing is deleted: your rules, your plan, and the pairing stay in place, and subscribing again turns enforcement back on.

    5. APP STORES

The Rulely apps are distributed through Apple's App Store and Google Play. Your licence to use the iOS app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. The Rulely Active subscription is sold by us, not by Apple or Google: they are not responsible for it, for billing, or for refunds, and they have no obligation to provide support for the Service.

    6. ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree not to use the Service to monitor or restrict a device you have no right to manage, to harass or harm anyone, to break the law, or to interfere with, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users' accounts.

    7. DISCLAIMERS

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will prevent every use of a device outside the rules you set.

    8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a device being used outside the rules you set. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for Rulely Active in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

    9. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

    10. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer protection rights you have under the law where you live.
